VAN HALEN REVEAL ALBUM ART ON NEW YEAR'S EVE TIMES SQUARE BILLBOARD

Van Halen took advantage of a global viewing audience of one billion to debut the presumably cover to their forthcoming release. The first public reveal of Van Halen's highly anticipated new album took place in New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve.
Artwork for the forthcoming release was projected on a giant LED billboard above the McDonald's at 46th St. and 7th Ave. and could clearly be seen at various points throughout the night, as several networks, including CNN, ABC and NBC, were broadcasting live. The cover shows an image of a locomotive and the date 2-7-12, presumably the cover and release date for the new album.
There have been many rumors and speculation over the past few months about Van Halen, but it seems that we will be hearing the first track from the album in a matter of weeks. But there is no confirmation on that as of yet however.
Producer Ross Hogarth has said the new stuff is “the killing side of Van Halen at the top of their game again with Diamond Dave, and the band on fire.”
There have been rumors that Eddie Van Halen wasn’t convinced that DLR’s vocals were completely up to snuff and he wanted some re-recorded, and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt’s has said that Eddie told him he’s “a little nervous” about how the whole thing will turn out.
The new album will be their first on Interscope Records. Long time label Warner Brothers Records is no longer involved with the band.
