Many years ago I saw Danny Bryant for the very first time on stage as support act from The Walter Trout Band. I didn't know the guy but I really liked his performance. Maybe even more as Walter Trout's. But I never got a chance to listen to his music anymore until his latest album "Just As I Am" reached my mailbox. Where have I been all these years? I think I have to buy his other stuff, because I really like this album.
 
Danny Bryant formed his band in 1999. So last year this powerblues trio celebrated his 10th year anniversary. Ten years with over 2000 gigs! Ten years where Danny Bryant shared the stage with rock legends as Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Greg Allman and Walter Trout. January 2010 saw the release of his 6th studio album "Just As I Am". The album has been recorded at the Grange Studio’s in Norfolk (UK).

The album starts with "Shut Out The Light" a great powerful rock song with bluesy guitar work. "Blues for Buddy" is the second track. Just as powerful as the opening track but it has more blues. "For The Last Time" is a power ballad with an excellent guitar solo and is followed by the bluesrocker "Every Time The Devil Smiles". The title track "Just As I Am" is a very passionate ballad where Danny shows that he really is one of the best guitarists from the UK.
The sixth track "Master of Disaster" is a cover from John Hiatt and is followed by "Day by Day", a good mellow track. In "The Hard Way" Danny sings about a lost love and cheating.
The album ends in style with the fabulous ballad "Alone In The Dark". Another track with beautiful electric guitar solo's but also with nice acoustic guitar work. Listen to this with your eyes closed!

If you are into bluesrock like Walter Trout this album, that comes in a nice digi pack, is really a must-have. It contains honest powerful bluesrock and passionate ballads. The only thing you can complain about is that there are only nine songs.
