Dilana Jansen van Vuuren was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on August 10, 1972. Her surname changed to Smith when she was about two years old, when her mother married her stepfather, and he adopted her. Dilana, also known as Dilana Robichaux, is a singer, songwriter, and performer who is also known as the runner-up contestant on the CBS reality television show Rock Star: Supernova in 2006.

Over an hour later than planned because the soundcheck wasn't finished the doors opened at 21.15 hrs. I was kinda surprised to see they built a little stage in the bar of The Lakei, but as it was an acoustic gig I could understand this. So the last gig of Dilana's tour in The Netherlands would be in a very intimate atmosphere.

The little singer from South Africa scored in 2000 with the single "Do You Now" taken from the album "Wonderfool" a little hit in The Netherlands. As a result Dilana got booked for over 200 gigs. I attended her performance on Bospop that summer which I remember very well as it was the first time I got the goosebumps during a show. Big chance it will happen again tonight. Dilana opens with the The Police classic "Roxanne". Wow, the crowd listened breathless.

As mentioned it was a very intimate concert so Dilana made a lot of interaction with her audience. If somebody walks to the toilet she asks where he's going and promises him she will wait with the next song until he is ready. And the barkeeper got a little lesson as she teaches him that "rockstars alway need tequilla on stage".

During her tour Dilana brought guitar player Jeff Zwart, but today Margaretha Kleine joined the extravagant singer. She did a great job, both acoustic guitar and background vocals. The setlist contained own stuff and several covers like "Not An Addict" from K's Choice and a beautiful version of "She Talks To Angels" from the Black Crowes. And yes, Dilana did it again... I got goosebumps... From "Wonderfool" Dilana only played "Do You Now". Actually she didn't want to but she knew she would please the audience by playing this.

From her second album "Inside Out", which includes Adrian Young (No Doubt) on drums and Mick Mars (Motley Crue) on guitar, Dilana played more tracks like "My Drug", "Dirty Little Secret", the ballad "Ice" and an awesome version of "Still Wanting". Other highlights were the iTunes single "Supersoul" (dedicated to an ex-manager) and a duet with Two Dollar Tuesday.  I thought this song was called "The Way You Got" but I am not sure. This remarkable and unique show ends with "Bill The Boy". After the gig Dilana took a lot of time for her fans at the merchandising stand.
