Scandinavia delivers some top notch hard rock bands like HEAT, Wig Wam, The Poodles, Brother Firetribe and of course the bands who are in their second coming now like the mighty Europe, Bad Habit, Stage Dolls, Pretty Maids, Treat and now their little brother Bai Bang.
Bai Bang, formed in the late 80’s, debuted with the now hard to get album 'Enemy Lines'. This Swedish quartet from Helsingborg where on the edge of breaking trough on both side of the ocean. Touring in Japan, Canada and the U.S. with big names as Motley Crue, Ratt, Dio, LA Guns and Pretty Maids just to name a few. But just when it was their time to shine a thing called Grunge music spoiled their plans. In these hard times Bai Bang managed to release two more albums ('Con to Con' and 'Riding High') and then returned in the millenium with 'Attitude' and in 2009 with their solid sleazy and party rock 'n roll album 'Are You Ready'.
So now with 'Livin’My Dream', Bai Bang is here to stay. And they’re going to personally kick your ass if you don’t get positive energy when you’re listening to the album. From the first seconds of the opener 'We’re United' or the following title track you know what you are going to get. Songs with powerfull big choruses and great guitar hooks and riffs... recorded with the larger than life sound.
That's why I say, as a Def Leppard fan, that Bai Bang is the (with all respect) little heavier brother of the British band (listen to the 4th track 'Rock On') combined with the Poison and Danger Danger party factor. The comparison to Def Leppard is even to find in the titles like 'Come On', 'Rock On', 'Tonight' and 'Rock It'. And a warning: Try to not scream out your longs on 'Come On'…
'Livin' My Dream' is filled with superb songs that you already can sing along the first time you hear it when the second time the chorus kicks in the song. They became quickly favorites of mine but if I have to make a choice it would be 'Rock It' and 'Stay' with a great metal riff in it and big chorus of course.
As you might have guessed there is also room for a big power ballad. 'Gonna Have It All' fills the task of being that ballad. But there’s just short time to slow down. Bai Bang continues their string of rock anthems with the longest song on the album 'Tonight' (4:22) and the already mentioned 'Rock It', 'Die For You' and the last song on the disc the party track 'Put On Her Dress'. Killer track…!! Bret Michaels and gang, listen and learn!!
Bai Bang is a band you have see when they hit your town…! But I think you’ll know when they are in your town… Mothers, hide your daughters!!!!
