Rockers Tri State Corner are active since 2004. With "Historia" the band released their third studio album. This effort tells the story of the immigrant from the 60's during the last age. A story where sadness, hope, anger and love are almost touchable in the songs. The CD contains 12 tracks played by the 5 musicians in a hard rocking style. The greatest effect is achieved in the combination with heavy riffs and melodic vocals.
So far nothing special. We know many bands combining heavy-metal with electronic and synthetic sounding, experimenting with folk instruments. What makes Tri State Corner special is the use of the bouzouki, which sounds much like a Greek acoustic guitar. This instrument became the band's trademark. It does sound original and sophisticated and I wonder why no one played like that before.
Title track "Historia" and "Sudden Turn" are uptempo tunes, while "Sooner or Later" and "I Swear" are great ballads. Other tracks are kinda slow and heavy but the bouzouki gives thems just a little bit more speed. Musically this album won't set the world on fire, as said before it's the bouzouki what makes it sound original. The album is easy to perceive and one can play it many times without getting annoyed. Just the perfect soundtrack for the rocker who plans a holiday in Greece...
