Incredibly, despite all this success, he had never played the UK until the organisers of the annual Firefest show in Nottingham decided to put right.
Jimi did not disappoint - not content playing a blistering set spanning his hit-strewn career, he also chose to steal the show with a performance that many regard as the greatest ever witnessed during Firefest's seven year history. Backed by an energetic Swedish band comprised of young rockers H.E.A.T., Eclipse drummer Magnus Ulfstedt and guitar hero Tommy Denander, the full concert was also captured on DVD and released in 2011.
