EX-GUNS & ROSES BASSIST DUFF MCKAGAN LEAVES JANE'S ADDICTION

Jane's Addiction said Monday it has parted ways with its latest bass player, former Guns N' Roses member Duff McKagan, five months after announcing his addition to the oft-vacated post. McKagan, 46, performed a few concerts with the band, and worked on new material for its first album in seven years, but musical differences cut short his tenure.

"Hey we wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record," the band said via email. "We love the songs we worked on with him -- and the gigs were a blast -- but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best."

ORIGINAL ASIA TO RELEASE LIVE CD & DVD

This Live CD / DVD captures Asia in their original line-up, featuring John Wetton on vocals, Steve Howe on guitar, Geoffrey Downes on keyboards and Carl Palmer on drums, performing to an enthusiastic crowd. The masters come from the band’s own archive and this is a show they have personally selected to be filmed and released. KOWALCZYK STILL "A-LIVE"

Summer is almost over, so is the festival season. First indoor gig LazyRocker.com attended in September 2010 is ex-Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk's gig in a sold out Parkstad Limburg Theaters in Heerlen, The Netherlands.

Ed Kowalczyk has built an impressive résumé with his Live-bandmates that includes eight full-length albums, total CD sales exceeding 20 million (’94's “Throwing Copper” sold over eight million units to date), a huge international fan base and extensive touring all over the world. Live has been one of the most successful and enduring alternative rock bands of the 1990s and 2000s. After the break with Live the dynamic vocalist went on and recorded his first solo album called "Alive" which was released in June 2010.

GREEN DAY PLAN NEW LIVE ALBUM

Green Day recorded a new live album at their concert in Denver on Saturday, August 28. The band broke news of the recording while onstage, sending the crowd into frenzy, RockNews reports. The new live album will be Green Day's first release since 2009's 21st Century Breakdown. It will reportedly contain all live tracks, as well as at least one new song titled "Cigarettes and Valentines."

The new tune was rumored early on as the title track for the follow-up to 2000's Warning but was either stolen or misplaced in their studio. After losing "Cigarettes and Valentines," the band went on to record American Idiot.

The new set will be Green Day's second live album, having previously released Bullet in a Bible in 2005. No title or release date has yet been announced.

TOUR AND LIVE EP FOR SWITCHFOOT

Switchfoot will embark on a southeast tour this fall with special guests The Almost, kicking off October 1st in Lynchburg, VA. The band also announced a digital only release of a brand iTunes live EP, featuring 8 live tracks.

Switchfoot is also touring in support of their most recent release, Hello Hurricane, which was released in 2008. The band's latest single, "The Sound" has gone on to become the band's first Top 10 Modern Rock hit since "Dare You to Move," broke the band into the spotlight in 2004. The song was inspired by civil rights activist John M. Perkins, who appears in the video for the song.

STRANGEWAYS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM WITH TERRY BROCK

The news of Strangeways reunion with American singer Terry Brock leaked when the announcement of Firefest 2010 festival line-up was launched with the inclusion of the band in the “Native Sons”/”Walk in the Fire” line-up on the bill. This came as a big surprise to many, since probably very few people would have hoped to see Brock crossing the ocean again and even less could think of a brand new Strangeways recording with the singer together with guitarist Ian J. Stewart, new bassist Warren Jolly, drummer Jim Drummond and keyboard player Dave "Munch" Moore.

Still the Strangeways reunion is now reality and the newly recorded studio album “Perfect World” will be released on Frontiers Records on October 15th in Europe and October 26th in the US.

MY FAVORITE HIGHWAY ANNOUNCE SPLIT UP

In an announcement via the band's website, Virginia based rockers My Favorite Highway announced the band is splitting up. A short string of farewell shows is planned for December in the band's hometown. "Pat, Will and myself have been doing a little bit of soul searching this year and we all mutually agree that the My Favorite Highway chapter of our lives is coming to a close," the band's lead singer David Cook wrote on the band's official site. "This band has been the most important part of who we are for over half a decade, but we all feel that the time has come for us to move on."

Cook did not cite any exact reasons for the break up which comes just over a year after the band released their last album "How To Call A Bluff" on Virgin Records in the Summer of 2009.

After disbanding over sixteen years ago, all the original members of the legendary Melodic Hard Rock quintet Unruly Child, have reunited to produce a brand new album entitled “Worlds Collide” due for release on October 15th in Europe and October 26th in the USA on Frontiers Records.

Marcie Michelle Free (vocalist - King Kobra, Signal), Bruce Gowdy (guitarist – Stone Fury, World Trade), and Guy Allison (keyboardist – Lodgic, World Trade, Doobie Brothers) are back together again and have written and recorded a stunning new cd. Rejoining Free, Gowdy, and Allison are original band members from the first record produced in 1992 by Beau Hill (Ratt, Winger, The Storm, Europe) and released on Interscope/Atlantic in 1992: drummer - Jay Schellen (Hurricane, World Trade, Asia), and bassist - Larry Antonino (Pablo Cruise).
